BLAZIN’ UP THE CHARTS: Thanks to a slew of radio appearances last week, Shaw/Blades’ critically acclaimed INFLUENCE album will roar into Billboard’s “The Billboard 200” and “Top Independent Albums” charts next week. The album--released March 6 on VH1 Classic Records--sold 7,608 copies last week securing chart debuts at #117 on “Top 200 Albums” and #11 on “Top Independent Albums.” This marks the label’s first “Top 200 Albums” title and second release since the label formed last year (the first being Kiss’ latest DVD, “KISSology: Volume One 1974-1977,” which has already been certified 5X platinum). The surge in sales amounts to a 186% jump, up from 2,653 the previous week. Sales at Best Buy and Borders were up over 200% and Circuit City was up 316%. Within the past week alone, Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades appeared on XM’s “Eddie Trunk Live” and Sirius’ “Howard Stern Show,” as well as Q-104 in New York City and WZLX in Boston. After the “Howard Stern Show” appearance the morning of March 21, sales increased 1081% by that evening, making it the #9 best-selling album on Amazon. The album’s first single, “Your Move,” is currently impacting radio as it gets spins on 20 Classic Rock stations across the country, including WZLX Boston, KQRS Minneapolis, WDVE Pittsburgh and WFBQ Indianapolis, putting it in the Top Five on the Mediabase Classic Rock chart. Meanwhile, Tommy and Jack are in the midst of a U.S. headlining tour, which concludes April 14 in Agoura Hills, CA. Within the past week alone, sales in cities where they’ve performed have also been soaring: New York City is up 360%, Philadelphia 517% and Buffalo 194%. Songs from both Shaw/Blades albums, as well as a selection from Styx, Damn Yankees and Night Ranger, are being performed completely acoustic, courtesy of Tommy, Jack and guitarist William Evankovich (American Drag). Fans are hailing Jack and Tommy as the “second coming of the Smothers Brothers,” because of the comedic stories they tell at each show about their life and times on the road, making music together and with their respective bands.
