At the age of 18, Raphael took the music industry by storm when
he was chosen to play bass for Prince and Sheila E. on the “Parade”
tour in Japan, and later that same year joined Sheila E. on Lionel
Richie’s “Outrageous” tour.

Raphael plays multitude of instruments including Bass, Guitar,
Keyboards, and Drums.
·
Raphael is the founder of the critically acclaimed group Tony
Toni Tone. This Neo-Soul R&B group sold over 6 million records
worldwide and helped pave the way for artists such as D’Angelo,
Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott.
·
Raphael is currently recording his solo record, which will mark
his debut as a solo artist. His Project, which is yet untitled,
will be released on Universal Records in early 2002.

Tony Toni Tone won an American Music Award for best R&B group
in 1991.
·
Lucy Pearl received a slew of award nominations for their critically
acclaimed debut album including a Grammy nomination, An American
Music Award nomination, two Soul Train nominations, and two NAACP
nominations.

Raphael wrote and produced D’Angelo’s Grammy award
winning “Untitled” as well as the Grammy award nominated
“Lady”.
·
“Untitled” and “Dance Tonight” have been
honored by ASCAP as two of the top ASCAP songs on the year-end
R&B/Hip Hop charts in 2000.

Raphael has recently produced songs for artists such as Baby face,
Ginuwine, Isley Brothers, Kenny Latimore, Joi, Angie Stone, Macy
Grey, and TLC. All these projects are due to release later this
year.

In addition to his success as a writer and performer, he also
owns his own record label, Pookie Records, as well as a production
company, Whiskey Slew and a recording studio, The Pookie Lab.
Lucy Pearl’s debut gold album was released on Raphael’s
Pookie Records.

Acclaimed producers Jake & The Phatman have been signed to
Raphael’s production company Whiskey Slew. Jake & The
Phatman contributed their skills and talents to the Lucy Pearl
album, co-producing hits such as “Dance Tonight”,
“Trippin”, and “LaLa”.
