JOURNEY
ANNOUNCES A NEW BATCH
OF SPRING & SUMMER HEADLINING SHOWS STARTING APRIL 29
April 6, 2004
-- April 6, 2004 -- It’s all about the music for Journey.
That’s why the band--Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass),
Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Steve Augeri (vocals) and Deen Castronovo
(drums)—kicks off a new stretch of headlining U.S. shows that
will keep them on the road over three months starting April 29 in
West Palm Beach, FL at the SunFest Music Festival.
Although they don’t
have new material to promote, the constant desire by their die-hard
fans to experience Journey live continues to give the band the opportunity
to bring their music to the masses.
The new tour dates follow-up last year’s phenomenal success
of VH1 Classic’s “Classic Rock’s Main Event”
tour which featured Journey along with Styx and REO Speedwagon.
The “Classic Rock’s Main Event” tour was an overwhelming
success with fans and the media.
Here are a few rave
reviews of a couple of Journey’s performances as part of the
“Classic Rock’s Main Event” tour:
“The combination
was perfect. Not only did all three groups command the charts at
roughly the same time, but their respective sounds all come from
the same school of strong melody, even stronger hooks, soaring vocals
and that palatable mix of guitars, bass, keyboards and drums…Journey
had the crowd on its feet and cheering boisterously. On that platform,
the five members were polished pros, particularly veterans Neal
Schon, he of the blistering yet smooth guitar solos, and Jonathan
Cain, whose slick keyboard flourishes drive many of the hits…On
cuts such as the power-ballad extraordinaire ‘Open Arms,’
‘Lights,’ ‘Any Way You Want It’ and ‘Don’t
Stop Believin’’ all the factors that make Journey and
irresistible wall of sound joined forces.”
--Mario
Tarradell, Dallas Morning News
“The Main Event
stop in our fair city was a fantastic night of music for fans of
arena rock and rock fans, period.”
--Lorilee
Craker, Grand Rapids Press
“Journey performed
an energetic show that had the audience up on its feet for nearly
two hours…The band proved it's still a solid entity with a
powerhouse sound, highlighted by shining guitar work by (Neal) Schon.”
--Eloise
Valadez, Daily Southtown (IL)
“…the highlight
of the evening was the return of Journey. This isn't Steve Perry's
Journey, and quite frankly, it doesn't matter. New singer Steve
Augeri was outstanding on the band's impressive set of hits. The
group took the stage with ‘Separate Ways,’ the obvious
choice for an opener. As soon as Jonathan Cain hit the opening notes
of the song on his keyboard, Journey began its barrage and never
let go.”
--Matt
Solovey, Hershey Chronicle (PA)
